We are pleased to announce that PARMA composer Arthur Gottschalk has been awarded a Gold Medal in composition from Global Music Awards for his cello sonata In Memoriam. In addition, Arthur also won a Silver Medal from GMA for his original score Amelia.
As stated on their website (www.thegma.net), “GMA is a showcase for original music, unique voices and undiscovered and emerging artists.” Although Arthur has a catalog of almost 200 compositions ranging from film scores to chamber works to electronica, has been recognized throughout the world, from the United States to Italy, and even had a day named after him from the City of Houston TX; the recognition by GMA only substantiates Arthur as a talented composer of contemporary music.
In Memoriam is a sonata for cello and piano, featured on the Navona album MOTO PERPETUO (2013) and performed by cellist Ovidiu Marinescu and pianist Janet Ahlquist. More info on the album here: www.navonarecords.com/catalog/nv5901/
Arthur is an active composer and Professor of Music Composition at Rice University in Houston TX. This summer PARMA is recording Arthur’s Requiem for the Living in St. Petersburg with the St. Petersburg State Symphony and the St. Petersburg Voices, conducted by Vladimir Lande. Stay tuned to the PARMA site and blog for more news about Arthur’s upcoming projects with us.
